Mechanic's Shop Coat Duster

Mechanic's Shop Coat Duster

$89.99Price

From the early 1900s through the 1930s, this coat was the tool of choice for mechanics and automotive assembly workers. The utilitarian purpose was to keep one's clothing clean and prevent buttons from scratching the car's paint and ornamentation, but in addition, the twill shop coat was a mark of distinction and a badge of mechanical skill. Our version is made in a breezy, lightweight 100% cotton twill that won't make you too hot while you work. It features a full button fly front, so the buttons won't cause scratches. The handsome brass buttons are also domed so there are no sharp edges to cut through the fly and damage the car. Additional features include a pencil and tool double-pocket on the left breast, and a larger note book pocket on the right hip. There are also two welted slashes in the sides to reach your hand through the coat to your trouser pockets without having to unbutton the coat. Generous length reaches below the knees. These coats look great when decorated with service station patches or chain embroidery names on the back. (Note: we do not offer this service, but we do sell 3" service stations patches that look great on the right breast, opposite the tool pocket. Tailored back gives an elegant silhouette.

  • About sizing and fit:

These coats run exactly to size measurements, therefore, in order to get the right fit OVER your clothes, measure your chest WITH THE CLOTHES YOU WEAR UNDER IT on. This will guarantee the right size. If you have a larger belly than chest, use the belly measurement instead.
