In keeping with our other great canteen reproductions, this canteen is also made in stainless steel for food safety. It features a khaki canvas covering, but no interior liner, as the originals did not have that. It features a screw-top cap, just like the original that was manufactured by Boyco. Ours also features the "HIKER" insignia on the front, stamped with a real stamp, not screen-printed. Boyco made three styles of these canteens in the early 20th century, one as a general civilian outdoors canteen (The HIKER) and another similar one for general federal use (The GOVERNMENT), and a smaller size one called The Boy Scout. They were all this shape and featured the screw-top. We figured the HIKER would be the most appropriate to reproduce, though all three were sold in the catalogs of the early 20th century.
